Discovering new approaches to pharmacologic treatment and detection of risk for alcohol abuse disorders
Of the 18 research centers funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the ACTG focuses on validating new candidate genes as targets for therapeutics and as risk factors for alcohol use disorders.
The ACTG supports the coordinated research efforts of 20 scientists within the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, in areas ranging from behavioral neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, and genetics.
